Is SEO all a hype?

If done properly it is not and can generate effective results. But most of the time with SEO companies the consumer/user does not know what they are getting for the price they are paying.  Alot of companies get very technical and use tech words which can be indimidating to the customer and in many cases the the customer does not know as the company is preseived to be the professional. Some even take advantage of this.

If you are looking to get SEO done on your sites make sure it is clear what you get. But the biggest thing is to get some form of reporting to which shows how your site is performing due to the work carried out. Obviosuly your selected keywords can have an affect do to the competetition, but if you can see that yes rankings are improving then it could just be a matter of time.

It s recommended at least 6 months SEO work for organic ranking. Search engines like fresh content and like search engine friendly sites. On going SEO can produce good results. Yes your site could get listed on a search engin overnight, but the search engin will not have enough intell to do anything massive. Intell takes time.

The other thing you have to watch out for are companies that can “GUARANTEE” first page rankings or first page listings. You have to remember that search engines such as Google are constantly changing their search algorithm. This means something that worked one month may not work then next.  Good SEO can get you ranked higher and fresh content will do even better. But the ones who say “Guarenteed”, ask them what happens if its not.

Do a bit of research beforhand. it is very easy to get caught up in internet hype due to the heard affect and be misled. It can take trial and error so be preparied.
